Finding Your Way Around
The panel shows one job at a time. What is on it comes from three places.
The mode keys
Section titled “The mode keys”Along the bottom: AUTO, MDI, MANUAL. These decide what the machine will
do, not only what you are looking at. The control is in that mode, and it refuses what
that mode does not allow.
Beside them are the keys that drive a program: cycle start, feed hold and reset. See Start, Feed Hold & Reset.
The screens that share the panel
Section titled “The screens that share the panel”OFFSET, PROBE, 3D and BLK SRCH open beside the mode you are in rather than
replacing it, so you can set an offset while the machine is where you left it.
PROGRAMS and EDITOR take the whole screen, and close back to where you were.
Everything that is not the job itself is behind APPS: the program list, cycle
programming, the editor, display settings, diagnostics, alarms and events, production
counts, parameters, and what the machine is licensed for.
The pages worth their own place in this manual are linked from the sections above: Production Counts, Cycle Programming, Macro Variables.
Levels
Section titled “Levels”Some screens do not appear at every access level: referencing the machine is a setter’s job, and so is editing parameters. A screen that is missing rather than greyed is telling you the panel is at a lower level than that screen needs.
APPS → KEY SWITCH shows what this machine allows at the position the key is in.
Raising the level is the setter’s or the supervisor’s to do.
Where to go next
Section titled “Where to go next”- The Run Screen: the screen a program runs on.
- Manual, Handwheel & Homing: moving the machine yourself.
